Pont Alexandre III wedding shoots

Behind the scenes / No Comment / 4 July 2018

The Pont Alexandre III in Paris is a popular place for wedding photos, it seems. And for very good reason: it’s arguably the most beautiful bridge in Paris. At any rate, with tall stone columns at each corner surmounted by gilded statues, wrought iron parapets and decorative lampposts, it’s certainly the most ornate.

Named after the penultimate Tsar of Russia, the bridge was built to celebrate a Franco-Russian alliance forged in 1892. Its style echoes the imperial splendour of St. Petersburg.

Visiting at about 7am one Saturday morning in early June, while on a long weekend with my wife in the city, I came across two couples with their wedding photographers on the bridge. While keeping out of their way, I captured some beautiful shots of them in the soft early morning light, with landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Grand Palais and golden dome of Les Invalides in the background. It must have been the start of a truly magical day for them all.

Of course, neither of these were my own wedding shoots, nor do I claim them as such. But it’s the sort of imagery I love to capture, whatever the surroundings. So if you need a wedding photographer who shoots in a romantic, elegant and relaxed style, please get in touch.
