Romsey wedding photographer

One of the prettiest towns in Hampshire, it’s no wonder that Romsey is a popular choice for many couples planning their wedding. It offers their wedding photographer ample scope for crafting beautiful images that ensure memories of this special day last a lifetime.

So why should you choose a venue in Romsey for your special day? Let’s consider its location first of all. It’s an easy 90-minute drive down the M3 from London, home to over eight million people and, probably, at least some of your wedding guests. Heathrow Airport is on the same side of the capital, so if relatives or friends are flying in from abroad for your nuptials, they will enjoy an easy transfer either by car or train. Direct trains from London Waterloo stop at Southampton Central every 30 minutes. From there, Romsey is a further 15 minutes on trains towards Salisbury and Bristol.

A stunning setting

The Romsey skyline is dominated by its imposing Norman Abbey. With its soaring nave and beautiful stained glass, it’s a memorable place to get married if you can show a family connection to the parish of Romsey. The green and garden on either side – respectively, the North Garth and the South Garth – are ideal locations for photographs after your marriage service. If you’re getting married in one of Romsey’s other churches, you can adjourn for photos to the Memorial Park or even Sadler’s Mill, where the River Test flows past the town.

Your wedding, your way

In addition to Romsey Abbey and other local churches in the town, there are a wide range of wedding venues in and around the town to suit all budgets and styles:

  • The White Horse, a boutique hotel right in the heart of the town (just reopened after change of ownership)
  • The Cromwell Arms, a gastropub with a wedding marquee on the banks of the River Test
  • The Potter’s Heron, a country house hotel with a picturesque thatched roof on the road to Winchester
  • Kimbridge Barn, a rustic events space just a couple of miles to the north of the town
