With its spacious grounds and architecture steeped in history, Ufton Court in rural Berkshire was the perfect venue for Evelyn and Geoff’s early autumn wedding. Their adorable young son Rio acted as ring-bearer during the ceremony.
Evelyn and her bridesmaids, who together crafted their own beautiful bouquets, had their make-up applied at the Roseate Hotel in central Reading. With so many exuberant personalities, it was a lively morning.
After putting on her dress upstairs in the Tudor manor house at Ufton Court, Evelyn went down for a first look with her bridesmaids and sprightly father Eric, who celebrates his 90th birthday next year.
Mild weather meant Evelyn and Geoff could hold their marriage ceremony outside the ancient tithe barn. After confetti as they walked down the aisle, they adjourned to the terrace at the rear of the manor house for drinks and formal photographs with family and friends.
The wedding breakfast was served in the tithe barn. It was followed by speeches, by turns humorous and touching, from Geoff’s best man, Geoff, Eric, Sylvia and Evelyn.
After romantic portraits as night fell, Evelyn and Geoff returned to cut their cake. They took to the dance floor to the strains of Groove Republic, the band they went to hear on their very first date. Their Motown covers proved popular among energetic wedding guests – a great way to end a memorable day.
